Don't forget to put in. The system always crashes the last day or two. So I put in today. Good luck to all.

Yes and for you fellow nonresidents who may not have time to read your HF or EJ reviews I can save you some time. No matter what unit you choose, the review is the same: >>>> The only nonresident tag will likely go to outfitters this year.

I am actually hoping I won't need luck in Oregon. First choice would be to draw my Utah deer tag so I can pull out the Emily app. But I wouldn't be surprised is Don Peay's brother-in-law, uncle, or dog somehow ends up with my tag in their pocket.

Zim which unit are you going for in Utah? How many points? I have come to the conclusion that when I retire I will move there for 6 mos and then draw the Henry tag. So between now and then I will put in for it in case lightning strikes. I'm going in with 18 this year.

Hoping that I draw wenaha bow tag this year with 17 points and the tag increase I have a decent shot of drawing.

Dz, Pauns archery with 18.

Hey Deer I got this email today. Looks like a guy had better draw this year because next year it will be like hunting a general tag with all the hunters and their spotters covering every inch of the unit.

Wenaha Unit Trophy Bull Tags Proposed for Increase

The ODFW staff is again proposing to increase the any bull tag Wenaha hunt. Historically, twenty tags were offered for this prestigious hunt and now it has proposed to raise the allocation from 70 tags to 90 tags. In addition to these tags, auction and raffle tag holders, as well as members of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Reservation will also be allowed to harvest bull elk. Unfortunately, bull quality (a function of age) appears to be dropping. These tags provided Oregon elk hunters an opportunity to hunt older age ?trophy bulls? and are very popular. In 2014, over 3,000 hunters applied for Wenaha trophy bull tags. Many hunters accumulate preference points for an opportunity for a ?dream bull in Oregon?.
The Wenaha Unit elk herd is well below management objectives at 2,600 animals in 2015; 60% below the 4,300 target level. While calf survival has improved to 22 calves per 100 cows the past two years, bull survival declined to 10 bulls per 100 cows in 2015. Bull ratios averaged in the 20?s per 100 cows from 2004 through 2011. The Wenaha Unit has a bull objective of 15 bulls per 100 cows.
The Washington Wenaha Unit north of the Oregon border still produces trophy bulls and they authorized 34 tags in 2014. Oregon hunters that want a chance at mature bulls need to comment on this proposal. Tag numbers must be reduced, not increased, to maintain trophy quality mature bulls.
What can you do? Testify at the big game regulation meeting held at the ODFW Salem office June 5, 2015 or send letters or email with your views to the Fish and Wildlife Commissioners at [email protected].

Deer,

Are you a resident? If you are a NR I don't think you would have a chance even if there were a tag offered to the public draw.

LAST EDITED ON May-13-15 AT 08:28PM (MST)[p]I am a resident and very familiar with the draw process. Yup 45 archery tags and 45 rifle tags

Already applied and started planning my antelope hunt. Should draw East Beatys this year as a NR. Next year I will burn my 19 elk points if possible. Heck, maybe I will draw a sheep tag :).
Wish everyone luck in the draw.

>I believe Emily has one each
>every year, one outfitter and
>one public draw. Good
>luck Zim.

Yep Goldhunter is correct. HF is wrong. There is always one NR draw tag every year for Emily.

Hope you draw it if you don't draw your Paunsaugunt deer tag this year Zim!

Ya and they have been posting that same wrong information in their publication for many years.

If there is one NR tag, they are supposed to alternate years where the outfitter draw can cherry pick it. With two, outfitters cherry pick one. It's a pretty stingy NR quota to begin with, I haven't applied since they nearly doubles the license fee. I would if nonresidents got an honest 10% with no outfitter cherry pick, or they drastically cut the fees to apply for the current token premium tag or two..

>Not sure what HF was wrong
>with emily they say there
>is 2 nr tags,so is
>it 1 or 2,does any
>go to outfitter.

Wildfin we are talking about the Emily archery hunt, not the rifle hunt...
