New to the forum so hopefully I'm It double posting this. Drew the Ochoco Antelope tag after12 years and will mentor my 10 year old daughter on the hunt... I have some ideas on where to go but never been... I plan on south end of the unit below Big and Little Summit prairies.. any good spots to camp and any other good areas to look...hoping to get the hunt done early before all the out of state people roll in for the eclipse.. big Summit prairie has over 30k people rolling in for a party/concert blah blah blah.. I want to be well away from that.... also need to be in archery elk camp in the coast a day before the opener.. any advise will be greatly appreciated.

You'll want to be gone before the eclipse no question about it.

Ochoco isn't an easy hunt for quality goats. if you don't have access to private the prairie and around Big Springs are the normal spots. there is a good bit of public land around Rager and you can find goats in.

look at any open areas and hope to get lucky. they'll hang in the timber and come out when they feel like it. good luck it's not the easiest hunt .
