I've been hunting for 8 years, well trying at least. Have yet to get a kill in that time. I've been all over between driving/hiking and haven't ever been able to find anything in hunting hours or days. I'm reaching out to hopefully get my elk/bear tag filled and/or maybe next year have someone to roam with and teach me a thing or two. Distance normally isn't a problem to travel, knowing where to go and what to do is I suppose. I just wing it because I've never learned anything from anyone on hunting, 34 and just trying. Reading and doing are completely different subjects from various people. Anyways hopefully something works out but still always looking for help

Your correct reading and doing are completely different and I really don't know how to respond to your question but I'll take a shot. Joining and becoming involved with a local NRA, RMEF or Muledeer foundation may introduce you with some local experienced hunters that would be willing to help you out. My number one piece of advise is go to the best place your can with the time and finances you can put toward this and spend as much time there as you can. Keep at it the first one is always the hardest and then comes a little easier after that for some reason.

Hey man good on you. My question is where are you hunting? And where are you from? I could try and point you in the right direction if I have the info.

You already have two great responses. I'll add my two cents. Are you looking for a hunting buddy or just experience with getting an animal? Maybe a guided hunt will work for you with getting an animal.
If you're looking for a hunting buddy, those are harder to come by. I have a lot of friends/family, and of those a few I like to hunt with.
Give a little more feedback on what your expectations are, and I'm sure you'll get some help here.

I hung in Trask, Stott, Alsea mountains. I've been all over that area from Logsden and to the coast to Pacific City area. It's not the thrill that I'm looking for, I do it mainly for enjoyment of getting out and the experience. I would love to have a hunting buddy to learn from and gain some in field insite. Finding a place to explore and get out to is my primary focus. I'm thinking of hitting up the coast line in Pacific City area this Friday. So far Logsden has been a far stretch for hunting and through the mountains in Stott and Alsea is just over ran with hunters everywhere. Not to sure tho

One day I hope to pass on everything I've learned and know or can learn to my children so they can have skills and bond with their children or family. My family isn't very orientated and is distant with one another. My father's side don't hunt and my mother's side don't converse with anyone. As for friends it's hard to find people to relate to and socialize with that have some common interests. So learning and having people to bond with has been a trial.

Nearly everyone I know hunts and nearly every one of them was brought up in a family hunting situation. you're a fairly rare case and I imagine it is tough.

I don't know anything about west side jungle hunting so I can help you. but the most successful hunters hunt the hardest and spend the most time in the field. after that comes skill and you're learn that with the time and effort you expend.

If you're not building points for the species you want to hunt start doing so next year is what I'd tell any novice hunter. start drawing good tags in good areas and you'll have more fun and learn a lot.
