Elk Meat ?

Not that I know of. We have done the gutless route on the last few elk we have killed. The "meat" bag with the backstrap, neck meat, tenderloins, and flank/rib meat has been the heaviest bag. Heavier than the individual hind quarters. But as far as the law is conserned you don't have to haul out the rib meat like Alaska.

Yes, if you follow the letter of the law. A waste of game ticket is at the discretion of the OSP officer. If your meat is inspected by OSP they will look at what is there and decide if what they see is a complete elk. Skull cap and eyes must be saved in the field and kept with meat. Proof of sex is also required. If you transfer a part of the animal Fill out the transfer sheet.

Yep, and it's perfectly legal for me to leave the head in the woods on an archery hunt.
