So how's been hearing the "sound of music" out there in them woods!?! Been seeing some dandy bulls taken from our great state this season and I think there will be many more these next few days!

Congrats to Austin on his FIRST elk hunt, taking a very nice 6X6! When I have permission, I will post...

They're talking, proof the weather has little to do with the rut since we set a record today.

I've seen some dinks but nothing good go through town. talked to a few guys who lost most of their meat to the heat. can't leave an elk on the ground for a few days when it's 90 degrees, who'd have thunk it?

Took a little while for them to get going but it finally happened. I saw a bunch of great bulls this year out in the woods (4 bulls 300" or better, one probably 330-340") but I only saw one 300"+ bull go through town. In fact I saw about half of the bulls that I normally see in town, most were spikes and rags, only a few mature 5's and small 6's. It may mean a really good first rifle season, the late start to the rut could mean that there will be some bulls still rutting and dumb during that last week of October. We'll see.
