Thanks for sharing! Notice how Odfw dances around certain questions! ?

ODFW is alowing the online license sales agent to collect donations. That are then given to the federal predator control program. ODFW has no autority to spend big game lic/tag $ on nongame predator control. Is what i heard on the radio. The sad part, most of this money in the feds hands will go to agriculture protection as normal ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------support your local guzzlers. About 6000 cougars? Wasn't there about 9000 last year? The whole problem is we never get the truth from ODFStupid.

6,000 cougars is a higher number than the last estimate. A couple years ago it was estimated at 5,400. Also, Melcher stated 52 kills deer/elk per adult cougar per year, That is an over statement from the data gathered. It said 42 kills average per year. 6,000x42=252,000 dead deer and elk per year in oregon. If there are 6,000 adult cougar living in oregon. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------support your local guzzlers. So then by standard rule of thumb we can honestly double that number and call it the TRUTH? 12,000?

I would like to see ODFW give preference points for incentive. I know I would put out more effort to go out and do some predator control if I would be rewarded for it.

Gee, you mean that possibly having hunting ended in Oregon by lack of game is not incentive enough? Sound like a democrat!

Hope I don't strike any nerves... but even if it did go toward ag protection I think you are still benefiting a lot of wildlife on public ground as well. A lot of those predators, whether it is coyotes, bears or lions, are double-dipping. IMO They (predators) spend most of their time on public ground then move to private and set up camp. Especially in the winter months! Once predator control has removed the predators on private land, the territory is once again vacant, and before long another predator comes off public ground and fills the void on private, and on and on it goes.

Plus you have to have to remember that in the eastern part of the state, there is still quite a bit of stock that ranges on public land during the summer months, meaning predator control on public lands.

As much as I love to take care of the predator problems myself, I know that I can't stand toe to toe with one of the predator control guys as far as numbers go, so I won't be to proud to donate.

Bottom line, I think that even if ALL the funds went strictly to ag protection, you are still benefiting the ungulate herds on public lands.... maybe not as much as we would like, but right now something is better than nothing.
