Snake River Bear

I drew the spring bear tag in the Snake unit with my son. I've spent a little time in the area, but never hunting spring bear. I know that I need to ratchet up my workout a few notches, but are there other tips for hunting the Snake? I know a couple of areas to check out, but am thinking I want to set a wall tent as base camp and maybe do some overnight bivy hunts. My son is 14, but is an athlete and will be better in the hills than I will. I've heard that I should wait until the snow melts and I will be speaking with Vic Coggins to get more information. PM or email me and I can give you my phone number if you want to talk.

Thanks!

I don't know much about the snake, but I drew ches / sled springs a couple years ago and my best advise is to go later in the season. We went the last week of April (figured turkey hunting would still be good) and it was like the dead of winter. Lots of snow no bears and we ended up shooting a couple of jakes.

Just for reference, last year was a long cold winter with lots of snow. This year so far there is far less snow and it has been much warmer. Very likely you will be looking at green grass the last week of April this year. Could be far different just because of the weather.
