Looking for fuel/lodging location info. I have hunted whitehorse unit several times but beattys will be new to me. I will be hunting the muzzy hunt so it will be a challenge for sure.Any info would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Fields on the eastern boundary of the unit is the only place I know of. Fields Station(541-495-2275) has great burgers and milkshakes. Gas and motel also. My wife took a good buck during the rifle hunt a year ago today. A local told me they start moving to the west of the unit towards the end of the rifle season.

Also fuel and a store Adel on the other side of the unit.

I have the tag also but it isn't looking good. The road that fields and denio is on is closed due to the fire. Not sure when it will reopen.I only have a couple days to hunt so I hope the road opens soon.

The fires were my next concern. They can cause a bunch of short term misery for hunters. How close are they to East beattys?

I not 100% clear on the road closure after reading it. The the road to fields and denio is the closure border for sure and everything east of it is closed. Not sure how the fire will affect the hunting hopefully it doesn't jump the highway.

http://www.inciweb.org/state/38/ To track closures and fire activity look at link. 8/14 BLM was reopened to access in some areas. Odds are good the road through the north center of the east beatys butte hunt area will be open. As long as no new fires get going. Lot of access off highway 140 also. Check your map for Antelope butte, The guy who named it seems to have gotten it right. Look at the highest areas in the unit. Take out your topo, find the highest point in each area you look for Antelope and expect to find the best bucks up on them.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------support your local guzzlers.
