Bummer. I was hoping this was your year for the sheep.

I got my second choice elk, which means I get to keep my points and I have what I think is a very good hunt for a second choice, I'm happy with it. Didn't get deer but I wasn't expecting to.

I drew only a Walla Walla deer tag. My father had 18 points for pronghorn and did not draw Hart Mountain. I thought that would have been a 100% certain draw with that many points.

Four USUCS for me. Plate is full anyway.

Horniac, Yes nice to see a MMer snag that one and glad to get one more guy out of the 15 point pool. I drew Wyoming elk so applied for points only. Otherwise would have been competing with you. We are virtually assured of drawing Arizona unit 1 next year, so my goal is to get the Mt. Emily tag in 2015.

My Wyoming buddy drew a Cali Sheep Tag (570 B2), which is the E Beatys Butte/Alvord Peaks No 2 hunt in parts of 68, 69, & 70. I'm going on the hunt of a lifetime for an animal I've always wanted to pursue to help him and any help you guys could offer up would be greatly appreciated.

If Hunting and Angling Ended
There is no alternative funding system
in place to replace the potential lost
funds for conservation. If hunting and
angling end, funding for wildlife
conservation, including enforcement of
all wildlife laws, will be jeopardized.
Hunters, anglers and shooters actively
support wildlife conservation through
tangible actions such as buying licenses
and paying taxes on hunting, fishing and
shooting equipment. Why are hunters and
anglers so willing to support
conservation through their pocketbooks?
Because people place added value on ?
and are willing to pay for ? what they
can use. Given the rate of population
growth, particularly in western states,
the percentage of people participating
in hunting and fishing is decreasing.
Therefore, it is important to engage in
traditional outdoor recreational
activities and introduce others to these
opportunities.

Saw tons of sheep in the Pueblos while deer hunting there a few years back. Mostly in the south half of the range.

Topgun, that's exciting news. Congrats to your buddy. The obvious is to call the area bio, they are invaluable. You can also get a hunt list for around 30.00. It will give you names and numbers of previous years tag holders. You can then call other hunters that had the same tag. That's what I did, and the hunters actually helped more than the bio. Good luck!!

LAST EDITED ON Jun-16-13 AT 05:52PM (MST)[p]Thanks oneaway! John will be doing that and since he pays the $100 a year to HuntinFool he'll get a list of previous tag holders. I'm trying to make sense of things on computer maps, but I think I will order a unit map right away from the G&F. This OR news has really knocked us for a loop because John already had drawn an elk tag for ne NV that starts on 8/25 and ends on 9/16 just like this tag does. It's lucky the hunts are within a half days drive because it's looking like we'll concentrate on sheep to try and get him a good one and then immediately head for NV and hope to have enough days to do that hunt justice until it ends on 9/16. This year is unbelievable because John also drew a good 2b NM deer tag for 11/2-11/6 and it looks like I'll draw my LE Wyoming deer tag this year that's from 11/1-11/15. Life is good, but almost too dang good as far as drawing tags this year. Too bad we can't spread them out over two or three years, but a guy's got to do what a guy's got to do, LOL! I'll take any help by anyone reading this that knows the sheep area and thanks in advance for any help offered, including the Pueblos comment above!

I drew metolius Rifle Buck, Snake River Spike Bull as a second choice, my daughter got 628T Applegate youth hunt.
30th year without a sheep tag, ouch!

Sled Springs bull tag for my 12yr old son who gets to hunt a private ranch!
