LAST EDITED ON Jun-15-13 AT 08:42AM (MST)[p]I didn't draw anything, but I couldn't be happier. My son drew the Interstate youth buck tag. Looks like we will be taking off the week before Thanksgiving for a little hunting. I've read some threads about this hunt and have stayed in Paisley several times. I plan on speaking to the bio and likely plan a camping/scouting trip this summer. Anyone with first hand experience on this hunt? You can send me a private message or even better an email at j.hankins<at>comcast.net

Thanks!

Hoofsup,

My son had this hunt about 9 years ago. It was a blast and are great memories. Scouting early will only help you with the roads. Deer migrate north to south in that unit. Hope for some bad weather.

Contact Sergeant Randy Hand at the Oregon State Police in Klamath Falls. He supervises the game troops in that area and his daughter had the tag last year and killed a great buck. Tell him that Rich Evans told you to call him. He will point you in the right direction. Have fun with your son, you can't get that time back.

Good friend, his two sons both drew it last year. 5X6 and 4X4 both very wide bucks! My son has 7 points now being 12 and hopefully will draw it next year!

Best of luck to you and your son!!!

Thank you for the contact! I will touch bases with him. Appreciate all the info and I mat be more excited than my boy! I have another boy that just turned 10, so I am looking forward to another hunt in a few years.

The office phone for Sergeant Hand is (541) 851-4911.
He is not always at his desk and often is in the field, so leave a message and he will get back within a day or so.

Remember to say Go Beavs!

HoofsUp,

Congrats to your son on the Interstate Youth tag! I have heard that the Interstate is a good hunt but my son was never able to draw that tag so unfortunately I can't be of any help to you on that front.

I did want to second the idea to contact Sgt. Hand. He went out of his way to point us in the right direction when my son drew the Gerber Reservoir Antelope Youth tag several years ago.

Good luck on the hunt!

Horniac
