Anyone hunting antelope in warner unit next week?
Drew a bow tag, just wondering who else might be out there.

I drew 1st season rifle. Good luck next week, and let me know how it goes. I'll be interested to hear what you saw.

Not to be a spoiled sport... but in nearly ten years of working in that unit during antelope season, this is the slowest year that I have seen.

The antelope are distributed very oddly and the smoke, haze, and other factors are making it difficult to do a thorough job of spotting them. In addition, the drought over the last year seems to have affected horn growth. I am seeing smaller and thinner horns. A check with the local taxidermy shops seems to confirm what I am seeing.

Perhaps the second season will be a different story.

Back again after the second season. I still have not seen anything (dead or alive) that will break 14 1/2. The drought took its toll on horn growth. I had a guy say.... but there's water everywhere! So it rained a few days ago and there is water in the puddles... buddy the moisture needs to be around to make the grass and brush grow WHEN THE HORNS ARE GROWING! Now is a little late.
Taxidermist checks are backing up what I am seeing.

That's the report. Maybe next year.

Ruttinbull, you are spot on. I saw 32 bucks on day one and with the exception of a couple nice bucks (70"-74"), they were all average bucks.
