600 series

Has anyone on here ever hunted the Umatilla wildlife refuge? Just curious about what your experience was like? Fun with some opportunity or a dissaponting way to spend a few days?

I personally think they need to stop the 600 series doe tags until the mule deer populations are doing better but if someone is going to hunt them, i suppose it might as well be me

The tag your writing about is the trophy any deer tag for short range weapons on the refuge? Takes a LOT of points. I think I have read where it is over 14 points and might be more. My wife had one of the three any deer tags last year. Very fun hunt. The only thing that would of made it better is if it were in the rut.

One of the tag holders last year drew with 5 points on the random pool.

Wow, that was a score. I think a thousand people apply for Three tags. I haven't drawn a sheep tag in 33 years of trying either. Yet every year there is a 14 year old girl pictured with my ram.

Yep you either have to be a youth, or know someone with ODFW.

Kinda like the lotto's, normal people never win, only people on their deathbed or those who don't need the $$ LOL.

I wish they would add a few more of these 600 series into trophy hunts. I know that you can draw an either sex Whitetail tag, but almost all the land on that hunt is private. I to sit here with 15 points trying year after year and have put in for Bighorn now 38 years without a draw.
