rattling and calls

Hi guys, I hunt inland blackmails each season in California on public ground, always have success but I am always looking to expand and learn more, thats the best part of it right. Do any of you ever try rattling or use calls? I was thinking of trying them this year later in the season like mid October to closing weekend. Aside from fawn bleats and doe response the only sounds I ever get from the bucks are snort weez when I am in tight with them, 20 yards or less and hoof pound to alert others. We hunt super thick stuff thus the close distance with the deer. Any response is helpful and thanks in advance.
Hope to find this guy or a carbon copy, I like big threes with the single long tine in back.
Also hope anyone who is near the big fire down by Pollack pines have no loss of property.

A couple friends of mine 2 years ago tried rattling with amazing results! 2 bucks down in less than 30 minutes.. Of course it's all timing on this stuff but the seasons are set up now where we can catch the early rut and there are methods most don't try to get these bucks out in the open. I'd say if you know the rut is kicking off don't be afraid to hit them rattlers

I have been carrying a dieing rabbit call for at least 10 years now. I cut out a hole big enough for it to slip down in the end of my leather ammo pouch. Though i have yet to kill a buck directly because of it's use, i have had deer come running or at least show themselves when i blast away on the thing, believe it's a great tool to use in thick brushy country, and if nothing else, not a bad way to let your hunting buddy across the canyon know that something is up.

There was a thread about this last year, i quickly tried to find it but wasn't able to. There were some good replies if i remember right.
