JR, You might want to look into selling some of your photo's. I think i've yet to see anything from your OP threads that wasn't magazine quality.

Congrats on the Yote and new Rifle!

I suppose it's because i was raised in the old school world of lever n bolt rifles, i've not had a desire to own one of these newer assault type rifles. I used to love chasing coyotes from view with all that my bolt gun would carry. It would be best if i made a hit but i can't say that was always the case, especially when they were shitten and getten. Our deer season was long, a coyote was big game to me as i always did know that they were bad for our deer, i'd not spare the yote in favor of not spooking the deer.

I now see where a gun like that really could be the exact tool for the job. Maybe our bolt guns could account for a healthy % of kills on the first shots but how about if there are two or more that come to the calling? That semi-auto and decent sized clip could really make it interesting, and no doubt, a lot of fun.

If you don't mind me asking, have you put it on the bench, how well does that rifle shoot?

LAST EDITED ON Feb-13-15 AT 11:35PM (MST)[p]Joey, thx for the props on the pics, most are selfies with the phone and a stand and self timer ..as far as the rifle and it's capabilities, it's a custom match grade build that papers 1/4 inch@100 yards with good ammo..I've benched it and it's a definite shooter..built right and a precision tool for what I do..
I still use the bolt gun though...my 22-250 is also a solid shooter so I can't leave it at home all the time lol.
I too was brought up the same way, bolt gun or nothing but I used a AR for 15 years @ work and gained a lot of respect and love for the platform..
I purposely had it built for a specific job and intend to put it to work often. It just feels right in hand when I'm calling and pursuing yotes or pigs in the field and it looks so damn cool too ;-)

LAST EDITED ON Feb-14-15 AT 02:47AM (MST)[p]JR, 1/4" is extremely impressive, especially in a semi-auto configuration. I was wondering if it would shoot under 1". Guess that settles that! Lol

Excuse my ignorance, are most "AR" rifles chambered in .223? You mentioned pigs and i do know that other chamberings are available to some rifles in similar configuration. Is yours in .223 or what chambering might it be?

I remember a deer hunt on our Ranch in Livermore. My good buddy and i happened on a fresh coyote kill and there were 4 yotes busy on the deer carcass as we snuck down with 150 yards or so of their fun and games. My buddy took first shot and promptly missed high but we soon managed to get 3 of the offenders and i was down to my last shot in my 25-06 when for some unknown reason, the last yote of the bunch stops and looks back at us just before he could have been gone and out of sight. I didn't have much time and admit it was probably too far and a very lucky shot on my part but both buddy and i were soon slapping high fives and talking about who da Man was. :)

Mags are 20 rounders with mods in them to make them legal @10 rounds..sucks but oh well we have to play by the rules I guess...

I've used iPhone and samsung note 4 to take pics..no need to have a camera any more with the phones these days..

Joey, it's a .223 and I wouldn't have any problem shooting a pig with it, I've killed the last 5 pigs with my 22-250 in a bolt gun, as long as I can get close I'm going to get after them with the AR..

LAST EDITED ON Feb-23-15 AT 08:13PM (MST)[p]Nice AR and good work on the yote, I am with you guys as we love old lever guns but I wanted an AR. I did a 308 and its been good on a deer and couple yotes so far.

Those old cartridges sure had some power for their time and even today, kinda funny when it hits a deer at 100 yds.
