Rockfish Season Starts April 1st this year!

Starts later up north, May 15th I believe. They upped the Lingcod limit to 3 per day (22" min. length). The rockfish limit is still 10 per day but only 5 of those can be black snapper. That's going to hurt up here because that's the most abundant species. It's actually kind of stupid because people will get 5 blacks, keep fishing to get a limit, and end up releasing a bunch of blacks. Some of which will die.

I've been Red Tail Perch fishing off the beach lately. I've had a few good days and they are super table fare. My buddy got a limit (10) this morning and I couldn't go. Dang! The season won't peak until next month so still plenty of time.

Good luck to you guys down south!

Eel

It's written in the good Book that we'll never be asked to take more than we can. Sounds like a good plan, so bring it on!

I'm in the Northern Management Area.

"The fishery is closed to boat-based anglers as of November 1, 2014 and will reopen on May 15, 2015"

I was going to go but I remembered I had paint drying that I had to watch. I love to fish but bottom fishing is painful to me. I don't like to eat fish so it's about the actual fishing for me!

lol Good one Bruin.

It's all about the great eating for me. I don't even eat fresh water fish anymore except high country trout.

Also, you don't know what you might hook out there in the blue Pacific!! PC

That's true PC. I was fishing lingcod gear last year and landed a 65 lb. Halibut. It's like Christmas, you never know what you're going to get.

The reason our season starts so late up here is to protect the "endangered" Yelloweye. That's what they say anyhow.
