So I have a question I know a junior can hunt big game at age 12 but can they apply for a junior or apprentice hunt at age 11 as long as hunt starts after they are12? I thought this was the case but guy at store said computer wouldn't let it go thru

Yes, as long as they are 12 by the time the hunt takes place. Good luck!

To apply for the draw, the kid needs to be 12 before the application period closes. The kid can still pick from what tags are left if 12 before the season closes, but must be 12 to but a deer tag.

Elmer, I think your right, I remember when one of my kids would be 12 by the hunt, it wasn't good enough, he had to be twelve by the time he applied.

Thanks

2 against 1......maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm thinking of Wyoming where this was an issue I dealt with. Sorry...

It was 12 on July 1, start of new license year. That gave every kid the chance to build up equal points before turning too old to apply for junior hunts. If they changed that, it will give kids born between the draw and the hunt a chance to get one point up on all the rest for their last year of eligibility.

◾ (A) Applicants for a deer, elk, or antelope license tag shall be 12 years of age on or before July 1 of the license year for which they are applying.

This is in the regs....
