Anybody having any luck?

i didn't draw my second choice C zone this year but asked at the local butcher shop in Westwood, how many bucks in so far. 23.

Cold storage hang fee $20. for 5 days, $5. a day after that. I recommend their service, reasonable, fast, honest guys, and their grind if you like burger is redictulasly cheap and hard to beat!

I missed the opener, but went up on Thursday and got a little fork that AM. My hunt was over before it got started.

For the little amount of time, I saw a fair number of deer.

vizsla2, Congrats on your buck!

Quick trip like that might take all the fun out of it for me though. I get to spend the whole year keeping my hunting rig in good enough shape to be reliable when i do get to go so i want to at least get my money's worth and i'd feel awful funny if i didn't have to fill both side tanks of my ol truck at least 4 or 5 times before i even found a buck i might have wanted to shoot if i had gotten a better look at him.

Then too, what would i do with all the little Debbie's products i got stuffed in Camper cabinets, the Top Ramen, rice-a-roni and the dozen new cans of whole potatoes i got in there? There's two ice chests full of expensive assed ice i start with so there will hopefully be enough not yet melted to cool a buck for transport once i might get one, what am i agunna do with that?. Also to consider are the kid hoods up the street that i'm told have been thinking on breaking into my house during hunting season for three years running now. This year they might get up the nerve and spoil my fun if i come home early before they try it and find the little surprises i left for them last thing before i leave.

No Sir, Getting a quick buck has it's issues. lol Congrats again!

I like seeing the numbers low, means more will be around for us rifle guys :) Have a few nice ones on camera already up there so I know they are around.

SnS, yeah, you guys might do really well. Tons of feed and warm conditions have kept the deer up high. By the time rifle rolls around and you get some storm action, could be really good with the majority of deer hitting the trails off the mountain.

I have to check back with a buddy been chasing a outsized, for this area, 4x4 buck around with his bow. He knows what a big buck is and this one he says has it all and is bigger than big. It would be nice if somebody got him.

Myself, i just can't go along with this zone as my first choice hunt. i guess that's going to cost me, like it did this year, where some years i won't be able to hunt the decent country beyond my back yard.

Good luck to you guys out there on your hunt and drop a note here or on your own new thread.

Some of you may remember Norm's butcher Block in Chester. Not too long after i moved up here, Norm hired me to take in all the bucks that came to the back door. Most were skinned and well taken care of, easy enough, but i had to skin and dress many, for a extra fee, and some were shot to $hit or gone bad from being left out too long. Anyway, nothing for me to register 100 bucks in a weekend day back then, often more of them than that.

Be interested in hearing if your buddy catches up with him. There are some bigger than normal boys out there this year for some reason or another. And for the record Westwood has been getting plenty of deer from our camp, great prices and good people there..

I am going through some withdrawls, but can't complain. I didn't even get to spend 1 night in the woods, but the wife was happy that i was home early. It was weird/nice hunting with no crowds.

I got lucky that the buck dropped real close to the road, which made it easy for me. It could have been ugly, being that I was solo.

I almost didn't see the buck to the left there. That's a heck of a set of pic's. Bucks on the hoof at distance, then the two biggest taken for a ride in the back of the truck, archery at that! That's flat getting it done!

Congrats hardly covers the credit due!

edit: 33 in the locker as of today.
