Looking for someone who has had this hunt in the last 10 yrs or so. I drew the muzz hunt, and I have some ideas of where to check out, but It would be nice to talk to someone who hunted it in past.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-08-15 AT 02:30PM (MST)[p]i know the north west corner pretty well used to guide in there some, seen some whoppers in there if the weather is right, those deer come from klamath falls Oregon very few deer summer in there... I've been applying for that hunt since the 80's with no luck of course...

manny, did you ever see the rock blinds that the old timers built up in that area? I guess they would hide in those blinds and watch the deer as they migrated down from Oregon. If they timed it right it was a matter of passing up lots of bucks until Mr. Big came by.

Eel

Guns are like parachutes. If you need one and don't have one you probably will never need one again.

hey eel ya; both my boys when they were 12 got drawn for that hunt, and when the snow blows them deer will migrate in a single file 100 or better in one group n we sat there once counted 16 bucks in the 24" class and passed looking for that magical 30"er found two over 30 but my boys would panic and never sealed the deal on the big guys we had to settle for one of the 24"er...

it seems the elk are growing in number in there and the deer are dwindling down a bit...

Well if you get hung up on this hunt let me know but a place to start for info I believe they still use the same name for the sports hut ...

Should be drawing A-27 this year. How did you do on your M9. Also any advice?

I missed a real good buck. Didn’t end up harvesting. It was warm/dry during most of the hunt. The bigger bucks did not appear until the last 2 days. It was like someone turned on a switch . Fun hunt, but not super easy. The bucks were not super dumb/rutty. Stayed at the RV park in Tionesta .

Thanks. Good luck this year.
