B zone opener

Was a pretty tough opener for the B zone this year where we were. We hunted the Yolla Bolly wilderness and deer were very scarce. Went home empty this time. Anyone else find anything?

Wow. That's a nice one.

I left Friday about noon. I got up to where I wanted to camp and realized I left my propane at home. Ouch! I drove back to Ruth and got a couple bottles. I ran into an old friend at the store and we had a beer. On the way back up I saw a few deer so did some driving around and found a cut block that looked pretty good.

The first morning I got there before first light and there was three rigs already there. No problem. I hiked along the edge in the timber hoping the deer would leave the cut and come to me. That's what happened but no bucks. In the evening I drove around to the other side so I would have the wind in my favor and walked out a few skid roads. I saw one doe and three piles of mountain lion scat. It was hot and dry so I'm going to leave it alone until we get some rain.

I drove home yesterday and decided to drive through the fires we had this summer. We'll have some good hunting for the next few years, if there are any deer left. I took a couple photos of my old camp sites. Had some good times over the years. RIP

I liked this camp because you could hunt right out of camp. Oaks and prairies to the left and timber to the right.



This one I haven't used for quite a few years because it got too over grown to hunt and it's a lot steeper now than it was I'll bring my chain saw and take some of that downed oak tree next time.
