No, no this is a huge buck...

I saw this buck a few days ago on a social media and would have never thought that it was from California. Anyone know the details or have any more pics? I heard what zone it was Im sure that zone will be flooded next year. Did the hunter use a guide ?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-19-15 AT 11:22AM (MST)[p]X-5A boys. You are right, it's the governors tag and I believe theirs another governors tag out their.

lol, smackdown said it first in a Oregon forum thread, "X2 on the California side, might have migrated in from the Interstate unit in Oregon, or just been a cagey old buck that lived in the garden until the rut started. shot last week with a governors tag."

So, we're down to three units:

1. X-5b
2. X-5a
3. X-2, all late hunts

Which could it be folks? Stay tuned to a forum near you! :)

With a great buck like that.....Why would you stage a picture to make it look bigger by having everyone way behind and the head close to the camera? A buck that big can stand on its own with a normal pic!

Possibly if all of them were up close near the rack they wouldn't be able to fit in? I can guarantee you that buck wasn't shot in X2/Devils Garden. Another rumor was that it was shot on the AZ Strip.

It was taken in X5a

They'd all fit fine in a normal photo. Ask mossback, they can get a great picture of giant buck with all their spotters, guides and the hunter in the frame.

LOL. Of course he did. Heber can't wipe his own ass without a posse. Incredible buck.

Great buck no doubt. Short 3s and very short 4s. Mass from Hell. Sorry, I just don't see 240. How about you sage?

I've not had this rack in hand and i've only seen this one picture but i'll go with my gut, the mass and length on this bruiser is so exceptional, those 3's and 4's only appear to be short. Also, the camera angle on those 4's probably doesn't help.

I first added up something like 227 so i understand the comment but this buck has grown on me and i now don't doubt that he'll honest gross 240. Besides, buck like that, he's got all the "Wall appeal" in the world. :)

Someone said that there are other pics of this buck floating around. post em please!

LAST EDITED ON Dec-02-15 AT 02:01PM (MST)[p]So you see a 200" main frame and 40" of abnormal points? Even with better photos I'm not sure its going to make that. But who knows. I just know I've officially measured a few bucks from this site that were reported giants in score......only to fall 20" short of what was first reported. :). But I hope I'm wrong.

BOHNTR )))---------->

"So you see a 200" main frame and 40" of abnormal points?"

I'd guess that there is better than 200" of main frame gross and some extras that aren't shown from that angle. When you stop and think 38" spread, i know outside don't count in the score, but it gives a guy a idea of just how big that overall main frame is because the cheaters don't help that much. Those main beams are huge, good inside spread credit, exceptional mass, and longer points than a guy might think.

Also, exaggeration of score is definitely not limited to this site or by the people here but in this case, talking gross score, i don't think they had to pull out the rubber tape or use trick photography to make him look bigger. He's huge. When a OM like yourself does score a buck like this, certainly he will not score as reported here as you guys are mainly interested in Net scores.

i'd love to see more pic's!

Yeah, it's a big buck but that photo is deceiving. I do not see a 200 main frame or 40 abnormal points. By this photo, I would guess maybe 200 total. Nice buck though.

Definitely need better photo's and less distortion.

Joey, you are making your "estimate" based solely on this photo?

Hope this is a Cali deer, I know that Eagle Lake area produced some real monsters back 30+ years ago, but sure haven't since. This would be a real needle in the haystack no matter if he scores 240 or 204.

lol, You guys go with your numbers, that's what makes these guessing threads fun. i do wish i could put money against you that he grosses closer to 240 than 200". :)

Deerdon's posts are few here but i've learned to give them weight.

MM Buddy sent this additional pic to me today...

He also said it was confirmed to come out of "the Garden" so the games continue.

Joey, we hunted that buck last year and it did NOT come from the Garden. Guaranteed. Let's sect this buck just for chits and giggles. Longest MB length?? 29"? Shortest G4 length 6"s, Shortest G3 length 6-7"s. Insides spread credit 29"s. Extras 30"s. Could it be a 210"frame????

I'm just passing on what guys are telling us/me. lol. Why all the conflicting reports?

As far as it's score, hey, i got to be wrong guessing scores once in awhile or you guys couldn't live with me! ;-)

Agreed that this pic makes him look "smaller", first i've seen it.

Mass is incredible. One thing for sure as Sage said, way closer to 240 than 200. Okay, after further review 48" of mass total, 36" of extras...could be pushing 240. What a fine buck. Only in my dreams.

Please lord let me shoot a big buck like this...and I don't care if I take a shitty picture of it and it looks all distorted. Because, in the end, I will still have a "FREAKIN' HUGE" buck hanging on my wall and the memories will be forever mine!!!

YBO, you hunted the buck the year before it was killed. You state that you, "Guarantee" that it did not come out of the "Garden". Did you hunt the buck in an adjoining unit that was close enough for the buck to have wandered amoung two or more adjoining units?
I don't expect you to give out any unit number, just wondering if this buck could have moved. The rut makes these damn deer do amazing things, not to mention hunting pressure.

I'm more interested in this rumor that it was shot on the Strip! you guys hunted it last year! Were you guys hunting it in the strip?

It's possible that the buck could travel north 25 miles and cross 299 into the garden. But probably not. I was only with the hunter last year. I did not have a tag.

So then him coming from Az is probably out of the question? ;-)

Who has more pic's of this buck? Dead or alive, let's get them posted, i can help if needed.
