Draw stats.

If I have 5 points for a hunt that takes 8, is my name in the hat 5 times at least for the random draw allocation and have better odds than someone who has zero points for the random tags? Appreciate some light on this topic... thx

No. They allocate 90% of the deer tags to those with the most points. Random numbers only matter to the point pool that has more applicants than tags and that pool goes to the draw. The other 10% of the tags go to random draw where points don't matter so there is some chance at any point level.

For elk, sheep and antelope, it's 75% to most points and 25% to random, but at least one random tag is assured for each hunt.

I realize 10 percent go to the random but the points are not weighted at all? It's just everyone in the random pool one time? Thx

Damn, why did I have this ridiculous thought in my head that 75% went to max point holders and 25% went to random? Did it use to be that way here in Kalifornicated?

Been 90:10 since the start. Also, nonresidents are treated as equals in the deer draw, if you can imagine a nonresident coming to CA to hunt mule deer! :) Ok... Maybe a nonresident would come to hunt blacktails.

The 75:25 is for sheep, elk and antelope. But, the first tag goes to random so there is no max points advantage for one tag units so it's more than 25% random overall. Nonresidents are limited to one elk tag total and 10% max of the total sheep quota which is usually one tag.
