locker service C-4

Not sure if this info will alter your hunt choices this year but it may effect your hunt if you use and rely on a locker service to either cut n wrap or just cold storage while others continue to camp and hunt.

Norms in Chester has been closed for years.

Biggs Butchery in Westwood closed this year. They were great, we will miss them and the great services that they provided to Hunters.

Closest place i know of that takes in deer is in Susanville, Idaho Grocery, good, but imo, way too pricey.

There is an outfit on Chandler Road in Quincy that I have not used, but has been around a few years now.

In the other direction, I highly recommend Barbara Hicks in Burney. I believe I paid about $100 last season, and that included a week in the cold locker, seasonings for some 20 pounds of breakfast sausage, and then another week in the freezer before I was able to pick it up. She and her grown grandson run the shop now. Very good people.

I always said i'd rather drive to Susanville twice than to Quincy once, it's a booger of a drive, i dread it. That well might be a decent option though if a guy does need a locker service.

The Burney service, i may or may not have used. A good friend here local hunted with me a opening day 5 years or so ago up on bunch grass and i got him on a nice 4 point that i passed, that he tried like heck to let get away... but it wasn't the bucks day. The service was back in the neighborhoods in town and they had a nice set up, about as good as a guy could want.

I always liked Biggs here in Westwood. I could take all the chunks of meat in i wanted or had and they'd grind and wrap it for me, $.15 cents a pound + additives. Then there was the little blond gal they had working the counter there. Fun to talk to, they never made enough like her to go around. Maybe that's the reason i liked the place so much, that sassy blond with a nice coo and blood on her apron. my kinda gal.

Edit: if some of you guys have a locker or processor place that you're fond of and want to give a shout out for, this place here is as good as any. North State, South State, in Cali but aside that. Feel free to post up a location and review.
