My daughter drew this tag. It was her first year of ever applying for a tag. I just threw her in for this hunt because i don't have any hunts this time of year. I was expecting her to get a B tag. Well crazy thing she pulled a random tag. I have not hunted this unit since i was like 18. Was hoping someone out there can help me out with a kid getting a buck. I don't have much time to scout so hoping someone out there can send us in the general direction of some deer. Thanks. We wont be picky just trying to get her some sort of good experience.

There's a little spot where HWY 139 meets Grasshopper Valley Rd that always holds a few bucks. Head east on Grasshopper Valley Rd and look for a small two-track that heads to the North. Further east is dry valley ridge. You can access blocks of public land that will get you up on the ridge. Always seems to be a few bucks hanging out up there. Willow creek campground is a great place to camp. There is also some good road hunting northwest on the Sierra Pacific clearcits west of why 139. Good luck. Have fun! It's been a while for me but hunted it a lot back in the day. Go past Madeline heading north and about 5-6 miles to Modoc county road. Head west towards Likely mountain. We always hunted west of the mountain. Always harvested some nice bucks but it's been a while.
