I stumble across grows almost every year. Not last year though. I didn't take this photo. I learned to hunt higher elevations where there is no available water.

Hardbone, that's good. I just don't want to have to shoot someone growing on public land. Well not really, I just don't want the hassle afterward. Lots of trigger happy growers around harvest time.

Arial surveys say there are 10-12,000 outdoor grows in Humboldt, Trinity, and Mendocino Counties this year.

Eel,

Ran into a grow on public land while scouting for my daughters antelope hunt near Susanville. It was located less than 4 miles from the huge prison on the outskirts of town. As we got closer to the grow and I realized what it was, threw the truck in reverse and hi-tailed it out of there.

We did not see anyone and never went back. Told the Game warden about it though. My wife was upset because I drove like a maniac down the two track. She said it was only a Christmas tree farm, I told her she needs to get out more. When she insisted that we go back, I told her that I would drop her off a 1/4 mile away and she could ask the "farmer" how much he wanted for his Christmas trees. I told her she could get a good deal and that they are probably on sale in August.

On the next scouting trip 2 weeks later we found more grows near Ravendale. She knew that they were grows, but the one next to the prison was, well you know. Women, good thing we don't let them run for President. OOPS
