A legend rides off into the sunset. Vin Scully announced
his last home game this past weekend. It's amazing he has called games since 1958, two years after I was born.
I can recall watching my grandfather listening to the games on his transistor radio when I was a kid. When games were televised on a different TV station with another announcer, we would turn the volume off and put Vin on the radio.
I used to bag Vin Scully's wife groceries when I was 16 in the local market. First time she came in, the manager had to show her how to write a check. She was a good looking blonde back then, but dumb!
He is much like the great Arnold Palmer, who pasted away yesterday. They have/had all the wonderful qualities of a past generation. He will be sorely missed.
