Filled a tag on opening day of archery and general season this year in the backcountry. It made for a short season but the best one ive had hunting my local zone.

Wow! Damn nice bucks for sure!I screwed up on two bucks this year there. One opener of Archery and one opener of rifle. Pretty much opposite of what happened to you.Good job man!?

Thanks guys, to say I got lucky would be a understatement. I put in a lot of time scouting but never saw either if these bucks until hunting season. Never even scouted where I got my archery buck, we just packed in the 5 miles to a spot we had hunted once before and it worked out. Found the rifle buck 2 weeks after getting my archery buck, hunted him 4 days during archery season. Got close to him once, but never spooked him. Found him in the same spot on the general opener. One of the coolest hunting experiences I've had. watched him everyday all day that I hunted him waiting for the right opportunity. Got lots of pics and video. He was every bit as big as I thought he was. His right antler is just over 82 inches with a 17 1/2" G2. Gross scored 175.

Absolute freakin stud bucks congrats. Way to get it done in the d zones. I've hunted d zones my whole life and know how hard it is to hunt so my hats off to u and I love the article in western hunter. How's the leg? Bet that was scary.

Thanks buttedozer! My leg is much better, still a little nerve damage but nearly normal. Scary for sure, don't ever want to be in that kind of situation again.
