Only in California would they encourage people to purchase deer tags and apply for the draw, before the draw booklet (big game digest) is even released. This state is a continual joke.

If there were only 100 deer in California, the tag quotas would remain the same no matter when you buy them.

Although not adopted yet, the 2017 tag proposals are out. X9 and x12 tag quotas may get HAMMERED!!!

X9a, from 650 to 270
X9b. from 325 to 230
X12, from 680 to 350

G3 (Goodale), from 35 to 25

I wonder why there is such a huge cut in tags for x9a and x12 only I am wondering if they had a bad winter kill perhaps.

Wouldn't you at least like to know the season dates?
We could take a guess, but who knows for sure. Never heard of a state opening their application period before the regulations book comes out.

G-3 tags have been cut too. From 35 to 25.

Those herds have been hurting pretty bad the last few years from the drought.

Well I don't totally disagree with the tag cut although it will take about 8-10 points to draw x9a but I think it will Help the deer herd

Could be worse. Could be like Montana where the Deadline for applications is BEFORE the release of the regulations/quotas.

But I won't argue with you about CA being a joke.
