Me and my brother are looking in to putting in for Cali this year. Cannot figure out how the draw works. Is it a preference point system, bonus point system of random system? Any explanation of info would be much appreciated!

It runs off preference points certain areas are over the counter A,B and D zones area first come I think 1 or 2 D zones take preference points it all depends what area you are putting in for max points this year is 15 if there are 35 tags for certain zone 32 would go to preference points and 3 would be random draw. What area are you looking at ???

There were 969 first choice applicants last year highest points was 8 lowest was 4 with 13 random draw tags good luck to you and brother never no

A couple of useful links if you're not familiar with CA website:

I applied today had to wait for the nevada draw. Glad I did after drawing a Nevada tag I had to change some of my choices.

IMO this state is one of the two worst states for NRs.

If you want to hunt blacktail in the B zones as a second choice it's ok. But if you're waiting for an antelope, elk or sheep tag, you're wasting your time.
