Family member has an antelope tag up that way and got a call from Fish and Game with offer to turn the tag in due to the closure which drew my attention to it. They have closed a good portion of X2 through November 30th which will impact not only x2 but also M9 muzzle tag holders. Antelope tags and M9 tags in this area are pretty much once in a lifetime, something to consider if they offer to take your tag back.

Does that include the Califonia auction deer tags ? if so I know there will be some upset $30,000 tag holders.

I dont see any exceptions for anything/anyone in the order that was posted at the USFS site.

Thanks for the link! Sure seems to be a bit much...but it is what it is I guess. Just wondering why such a large area? Well outside the fire lines!

I did question the reasoning behind the Nov 30th date, and also the oversized closure area. Here is the response.. November 30 is the expiration date for the web post. The order terminates with the closure of fire season or when rescinded. Closures are set to protect firefighter and public safety during ongoing suppression and rehabilitation activities.
You can can go on the Modoc FS FB page for some good info. https://www.facebook.com/ModocNF/

They've already drastically reduced the size of the closure. I'm guessing they will continue to do so. The key phrase in their response is the "or when rescinded" portion.

I've been following this closely as I have a NE Elk rifle tag.
