Collared buck

Long time reader, first time poster, went out scouting for bucks with my first time drawing an X tag in NE California and ran into a ear tagged and (somewhat hard to see in pic) gps collared buck. Curious if anyone else has ran into this before. Hoping to post a good buck story early october, also hoping this picture posted correctly... Good luck this season guys.

I usually run into 2-3 collared deer when I go to Round Valley
for my annual "Deer Tour". Most of the collared deer I see are does, very few that are bucks.

I see that a lot on the winter range. Same as stated above, mostly on does and fawns.

I just read a artical in the last couple weeks saying they collared a lot of deer this last year from Tahoe up

Back in about 1978 I shot a buck with a tag in each ear, D5.

One ear had an aluminum clip on tag, the other had a rubber tag.

I lived in Sac then and took the tags to F&G. They said the buck was 4.5 years old and tagged on Grizzly Flats. I shot it behind Kyberz. Kinda kool. It was just a forked horn but had knobs all over it's horns.

The first buck i shot outta that group was a 25" 5x5.

Great times. I used to harvest 1-2 bucks outta a 12% kill unit annually.

I wish you could find all the radio collard deer info,I use to fish fordyce lake in d-3 a lot and one summer we watched a collared doe feed on a hill side every morning we would be there,I was curious where she wintered

Not a buck, but a friend of mine killed a collared bear years ago. When he had it validated, F&G told him it was a problem bear that had been tranquilized and moved out of Yosemite national park.
