In 2014, 3 of us drew archery tags for an unspecified CA X-zone. I remember being a little disappointed after a scouting trip, so going in, I realistically lowered my expectations. Remember, don't pass on the first day, what you'd shoot on the last day?... We'll, opening day, I just couldn't pass up a broadside shot a respectable fork at 43 yards.
I hung out for 2 more days to help my buddy get his deer (and he did, 3x3).
But what I saw over those two days was everything I had hoped this zone would offer, but didn't previously see. In fact, our ?neighbors? had 2 studs, a 6x5 and a big 4x4.
I can vividly remember some of the bucks I saw, but these two were the biggest (I took these pics from the road on Sunday, after I was tagged out). BTW, the second buck was taken the next day, same clearing and I helped drag it out. Using my arrow as a measuring device, I believe it was right around 27?.
Archery season just ended and it's tag soup again? But I remember 2014 like it was yesterday!
