Tomorrow chukar/quail

Western Nevada was pretty good to us last weekend. Lots of young birds. I predict the Kali hatch is just as good. Going for the 12 pack tomorrow.

5 sets, 6 dogs called in, one triple, one dry set.

I was tore up from two days of chukar hunting so i didn't get up until he left. I heard him get off with a couple of shots. I left to a spot I never hunted before but saw chukar tracks in the road the day before. After about 45 minutes of seeing chukar tracks/sign, but no birds, I heard him get off again, 3 shots. I got into some quail and chased em downhill. Then he came by telling me 3 sets, 4 dogs called in, 2 dead.

We parted ways, an hour later I heard him get off again, countless shots. 45 minutes later he was back in camp. I missed hearing his last kill, probably in the truck.

I wish I had gone yote hunting. But the dogs (mine and the coyotes) were glad I hunted birds.

Hunter,
We had a good Chukar and Hun hatch here also. Been getting into bunches of them any time we are out and about.
Did you see the pics of Austin and his boy from a couple weeks back? Nine dogs in the back of his PU and one they left for the magpies! Ten in one day! That beats my best day by 3. I bet artie has killed at least eleven of them in one set, with one bullet of course!
