Normal winter kills

That is sad to see.
I know the deer can eat sage and juniper but I've always wondered what the chuckar and quail do when the snow gets deep.

Hey Homer.
Up here in Western Nevada we have over a foot of snow at the bottom of the hill. Hope them birds like sage brush to eat. Problem is in a lot of the burned areas there's not even any sagebrush left

He could very well have been old or sickly, but it was obvious his craw was empty and he was very skinny. It's amazing to see the birds and other wildlife take advantage of the road when we plow it open. They just gravitate to the bare ground, especially if there is a little sun shining.

let's start praying for drought......

Ha ha, no. This winter might be rough on some critters, but the moisture levels will help in the end. I'm done with drought for a while.
