Few questions on Unit 31. Can you get a trailer in the area to camp , or

is it just better to take a tent. I have looked around on the internet really can't find

a lot of information. I have 13 non res points son has 12 so we thought lets try

to draw a area, before I get to old. Thanks for any information. Mike

I don't have the chip for my GPS for Nevada but just looking at my Nevada DeLorne Atlas there are many roads out of and around McDermitt, NV on the border up there.
Get an above mentioned book at most sporting good stores and check it out.

Good luck on your hunt. There use to be food & gas in McDermitt so make a few calls too...just Google the "town" and go from there.

Thanks for the reply. been through McDermitt a lot of times hunting Idaho. Just never

paid any attention to the area. I will order the book if we get drawn. Thanks again Mike

I didn't know till last year I was going to put my son and my dad in together thinking it would be fun for both of them to hunt together, nope.

I think for the points you have you might want to look at other units. I spent time there last year and most hunters were disappointed. The fire from 3 years ago really changed the unit. This hunt is more of a mountain hunt. Some days I didn't see my first antelope till noon. I didn't see more than 20 antelope on any day, not counting private alfalfa fields. I am not saying you wont have a good hunt, just it is not a high density area for antelope like it was 5 years ago.

to compound Hill's response, that unit did get hosed pretty bad in that fire. With that many points, you've probably got a pretty good chance at drawing particularly if you do archery. I live in Reno so we tend to focus on the northern washoe and western Humboldt units. Just about any hunt in the north west quadrant of the state is pretty solid for Antelop with 31 and 15 recently suffering from big fires. My neighbor hunted 015 goats last year and said it burned pretty bad but they still saw plenty of goats and harvested one as well. the 032 hunt is a fun one too, bring your fly rod (and float tube) and camp at Knott Creek res. Its a really good time. Hunting archery, in August, I tend to find most of the goats between 6k and 7k ft elevation but that may be a little less reliable with the weak ass winter we had. They will be where there's water. This info is all for not and I'm an idiot because the draw is already closed. That said, good luck to ya!

Did you draw?

I just found out I drew Unit 31 with 3 points. It was my 2nd choice and I didn't do a lot of research on it as I did not expect to draw with so few points.

Looks like a decent unit, it is just a LONG way from my house! 1,300+ miles.

Pretty slow year for tags for me so far, until this I didn't have a tag in my pocket after striking out in Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.

Looks like this might be an Antelope year for me with Wyoming still to go.
