Hello,
The luck of the draw was with me this year. I'll be able to hunt the first 2 days of the season and also the last 10 days. Do the Bucks get "Rutty" around the 1st of November ? Please PM if you have any thoughts and enjoy the Fall, "It's the best time of year".
Thanks

My hunting partner has this tag as well. I'd love to hear more about the unit. Is it a migration unit? Are there good local bucks? Is a 170+ buck a reasonable buck for the unit? And does anyone know how antler growth is this year in the unit? I have a project in Elko and know they have received quite a bit of rain so I would assume this year to be better than average.

thanks for the info! I'll make sure to follow back up with the story of the hunt.

POTENTIALLY. I?D TAKE MY SCOUTING AND DEER WHO HAVEN?T BEEN DISTURBED BY HUNTING PRESSURE OVER A FEW HOT DOES. LOTS OF HUMAN ACTIVITY IN THERE, BUT NOT A LOT OF HUNTING PRESSURE HAS OCCURRED PRIOR TO OPENING DAY.

Is it a migration unit?
NO. A FEW DEER MAY CROSS ROADS. NOT A HUGE UNIT.

Are there good local bucks?
A FEW, SAME AS ANY UNIT IN NEVADA

Is a 170+ buck a reasonable buck for the unit?
COULD BE DONE, SAME AS ANY UNIT IN NEVADA. THEY AREN?T AROUND EVERY CORNER.

And does anyone know how antler growth is this year in the unit? SLIGHTLY BETTER THAN AVERAGE

GUYS - NOT REALLY THE QUESTIONS I WOULD BE ASKING OF PEOPLE IF I WAS REQUESTING INFO ON AN UNKNOWN UNIT.....

Spent 2 days scouting prior to 10/5. Lots of Does, Fawns and 2 points. Opening day observed a 4x2 and a 3x3 + Does, Fawns and 2 points. Gudari your correct about the activity, mining exploration everywhere. Only had 1 1/2 days to hunt but will be back for the last 10 days of the season. (Work) Spotted a 2 point and the 4x2 hiding under a small tree that a Jack Rabbit would have a hard time hiding under in the middle of an open hill side. Never know where they might be hold up..Lots of Sage Chickens and Chucker's which was good to see and had the opportunity to chat with some nice folks enjoying the hunt.

my buddy had similar experience. The biologist said quality is there but this hot weather has them laying low. the bio also said it is not a migration hunt so not much will be filtering in from the Ruby's if snow flies.
