Necessary gear for Nevada Big game

What you wear and the gear you think is important for each category of hunting big game in Nevada. Although weather conditions and time of year really determine how many layers of clothing you wear, what is on your need to have list for Antelope, deer, elk etc...
In considering this I thought about what our forefathers would carry. Did they run to cabelas, bass pro shops, Wal Mart to stock up on hunting supplies? Your thoughts and input for what is really needed for a Nevada hunt.

Same clothes and gear used on my hunts from AZ to AK. Merino wool base layer, camo outer wear, windproof jacket or parka depending on temps, rain bibs and jacket over all. Keeps me warm and dry even in single digit temps with 30 mph wind. The rain gear acts as a wind barrier even when there is no rain or snow. Surprisingly, I did wear my merino wool base layer on an antelope hunt in NV. Colder than I thought it would be in the morning and evening but that stuff came off shortly after daybreak and before any stalk was started.

As far as gear, I could write a book. I have a backpack capable of carrying out meat, spotting scope, tripod, binoculars, GPS, rangefinder, 10 rounds of ammo on rifle hunts, Havalon knife with spare blades and a multitool for changing them, saw, cloth meat bag, waterproof bag for backpacking meat, compass, tripod stool for glassing, matches, rubber gloves, a rag and food and water for a day. A complete camp to return to at night.

Great post sagebrush. I think there are a lot of people that will find your info helpful. The summer months hunts are coming soon, anyone wanting to chime in please do so.

I could list a page full of items from picket ropes and hobbles for the horses, to a water filter system.

But to me the top 2, in this order is a weapon I can shoot very accurately with; bow, muzzy, rifle.

Second would be a great pair of boots.

Besides the obvious things I could not leave home without my binos. I'd almost rather forget my rifle than my binoculars. 90% of the hunting my buddies and I do involves getting up high and glassing till our eyes hurt. Great post!
