Mount Grafton wilderness area

Is this area worth the trouble of hiking in and doing a spike camp. I have a muzzy deer tag for 221-223 this year and I'm trying to to narrow down my scouting plans. Thanks for any info.

I'd be tempted to try the spike camp because I like to save on sleep and hiking. Most people don't do it because they like to stay more mobile with their glassing.

I've guided for elk on Grafton quite a few times. Never seen a big buck on the east side but I have seen some great bucks on the west side.

I was up there a couple years ago scouting for elk and I only saw a couple little bucks and that's it. I thought there would be more deer up there, but I guess not.

Thanks for the replies. I guess that changes my plans. I figured that would be a good place to start. I have a few other ideas but any input would be appreciated.

i would spend all my time on the west side up high.spent 10 days up there and did good seen lots of deer.

I would not overlook the north end of Grafton, accessing through Robber Roost.

Below the wilderness boundary.

1 of first places I'd look if I had the tag.

And anyplace north of there that has water that time of year.
