I drew the early rifle tag. Never hunted this area, never even been to this area. Shoot this is only the second time NDOW has smiled on me with a tag. Anyways I have a party tag 3 of us in camp, and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right directions for highly concentrated deer, I am not looking for a wall hanger but also not looking for the spikes and forks that hang out with the doe.
So far I was looking around but not in the arc dome area, just do not know if I want to hunt north, south, east, or west of it. Or try to find some good alfalfa fields that have traffic. If anyone could Name off some canyons, mountains, or map points I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you in advance!

Cow, peavine, ledbetter, are all good canyon trailheads. Saw deer everyday, but most were 5+ miles in. Best bucks were above 9,000 feet. Get in shape, I did it on foot, spike camped, and had to go vertical to get away from horse/ drop camp traffic.

Thank you I appreciate it. I will hopefully head up that way at the end of July to find my way around. i highlighted the areas on my map and look forward to putting some miles on the boots.

I had the late rifle tag last year. We saw a lot of deer. We also knew we had to climb each day. We trained for months to get ready for the hunt and it paid off. I had my altimeter and we didn't see a single animal below 9300 feet.

He was on the crest close to 10,000 feet. Glassed him very early and waited him for him to come down and hang with some does.

Not wantingcto hijack amyones thread, but i also drew 17 late. I an wondering approximately how cold can I expect it to be at night.. and yeas any good areasnto start looking would be greatly appreciated also

Nice I have the early tag. It says early October low 30's at night and 70's during the day but that's down in the city... I'm sure it's probably a bit colder in the mountains.
