Has anyone hunted with this outfit? They seem to shoot big deer every year. I have a lot of deer points and figured I will go with a guide. I have been burned by outfitters before and that was my mistake for not doing my homework. Any feedback would be great, positive or negative . Also when does the outfitter draw close?

Eric,

I was lucky enough to hunt with his outfit this year. Paul Stewart was my guide in unit 231 for mule deer. It was the muzzleloader hunt and I was Un-successful. We could not get within shooting range during legal shooting time in Nevada, which is sunset not 1/2 hour after. I would hunt with them in a heartbeat again! Does that answer your question

LAST EDITED ON Jan-13-17 AT 04:00PM (MST)[p]Just remember, "sunset" is relative. The sun can be down but you are still allowed to hunt. Just because the sun is behind the mountain does not mean its not legal shooting hours still. Always go by the table posted on NDOW.

It could be another 10-15 minutes after the sun goes down that you still have a legal shooting time. Ive found that it is nearly dark when these times hit.

Greg and Paul understand the sunset rule!

I shot a little 3 point with Greg last year.....Because I SUCK AND AM WORTHLESS.

Greg put me on a 200" typical that I missed and stuck the bullet 100% up the butt hole of the 3 point I didn't' even see. We were on a group of bucks and 2 Greg said were over 200" one the typical and one with some trash. The typical had 9 lives as he got missed more later by another hunter.

Would hunt again with Greg any day that I could.

Greg seems like a good dude and he kills monsters every year... If you're looking at other options, I work with Deep Creek Outfitters and we've done really well the last few years. I have never met Greg personally but we have exchanged a few messages over the years and having spent quite a bit of time in units he frequents I have many friends that have met him and I think you would have a hard time finding a guide who produces the quality of animals he does and has the level of respect for those animals and receives the same amount of respect from hunters.

I've never hunted with Greg but would love to as I know first hand what a class act he is, not to mention a great hunter. An example of the kind of guy Greg is... a number of years ago, a buddy drew an Arizona elk tag and asked me to help him on his hunt. One of the things I did was post on MM, asking for any help on this guys unit as it was an area I'd never hunted before. Greg sent me a private message, indicating that he could help me with information. We corresponded by email and he gave me very detailed information on places to hunt, including a specific tank where his father shot a nice bull.

Keep in mind, this is an outfitter who knew my buddy was not gonna book with him but freely shared valuable intel anyway. To me, that's a man of sound character, someone I'd happily hunt with if the opportunity ever presents itself.
