You have to register your hunter ed card# depending on your age,so don't wait till the last minuet to get that set up.

When do u have born before or after for the hunters safety card?

Also remember that in order to get a bonus point you have to buy a non-resident hunting license AND if you don't put in every year you will lose your points so make sure that you will be able to continue putting in to build points because even an easy to draw deer tag for a non res is going to take you 2 or 3 years.

I was born in 1971 and I still have to produce the hunter ed #.

I sent in my info with hunters safety card and the paper to go with that. Hope that's all I have to do to get started. Thanks for the help guys

You asked for help. And I'm going to help you. Save your money and buy a tag. I've got 18 nonresident deer points and after looking at gohunt draw odds it's crazy. Example last year with 17 points I had a 4% chance of drawing 241 rifle. 221 Late with 17 points I had .074%. Not even 1%. For $2700 in points my odds go up almost not even noticeable. $2700 dollars in points isn't worth .050% better chance than people with no points. These are only examples, but that's the facts. My friend has a accounting firm. He was so upset of buying points in Nevada for years that he had some of his accounting people do some looking into it. There conclusion was that for every non-resident deer tag they gave out. Nevada game & fish made $25000.

How big how Deer you looking to kill? The hard to draw units will take lots of money and years to draw. But you can hunt average size deer 140-170inch deer in units 032,034,035,041-042,043-046, and 051 and draw a tag every 3 to 5 years I have killed some nice bucks out of Tobin range rifle in 043-046.

I AGREE.........NEVADA IS A TOTAL F...ING RIP OFF WHEN DRAWING TAGS. WISH I HAD NOT GOT INVOLVED WITH THE STATE A FEW YEARS BACK.

IT IS .....A GAMBLING STATE, MOST OF US ARE LOSING BIG TIME................YD.

Amazing the negativity in this thread!

Nevada has a lot to offer!

I have a friend who has hunted archery antelope and archery deer here. I also helped an 82 year old gentlemen from Washington get a nice 76" antelope buck last August. He also drew a cow elk tag and was very joyful in his endeavor because he likes to hunt!

You cannot fully expect to draw a sheep tag of any sub species at all, but it is a treat if it comes! I am going on 13 years as a resident waiting on a sheep tag! I cannot predict when or if I will ever draw one. By looking at the bonus point data, I can see which areas obviously have the most demand according to first choice applications.

You should be able to hunt deer as a non resident in Nevada about every 3-5 years. You are not going to hunt areas 6L, 13L, 192, 194, 196, 22L, 231 or 241 with any regularity. These are very tough to draw hunts with high demand for a reason.

You should have no problem hunting 3,4,5,6,7,10,11,12,14,15,16,17 every few years. The odds are better if you go archery or muzzleloader.

Put in for everything and spread your money out per application. I spend $300 a year as a resident on hunting license, fishing license, stamps and tag applications alone, not including any tags that I may draw. I also lion hhunt year round and we have reasonable bird seasons as well.

Apply for antelope, elk, deer, sheep and goat! There is one goat tag going to be allowed for a nonresident this year. Horrible odds, but someone has to win it!

PM me if you have any questions. I am willing to share as much as I can more specifically.

I mainly wanted to spread apps around for a sheep tag. Just to increase my odds to hunt sheep before I die lol.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-01-17 AT 08:38PM (MST)[p]If you are just wanting to concentrate on sheep, then it's pretty simple.

Apply for every species (of sheep)in every state that you can.

Or save up a lot of money over the next few years and buy the hunt you want.

The application will start in about 3 weeks.

Good luck!
