Tag recommendations

LAST EDITED ON May-07-17 AT 08:26PM (MST)[p]Go to NDOW website. Then to public meetings. Then public notices. Then notice of hearing May 13. Sorry I couldnt get the link to work. Looks like they have upped antelope pretty substantially in some areas. Deer way down in a couple. They will set quotas on the 13th. All the recommended numbers are in the notice for the hearing. Good luck. Only a few weeks out now.

LAST EDITED ON May-09-17 AT 08:44AM (MST)[p]Thanks for sharing the link. I noticed that the early hunt in 61, 62, 64. 66-68 had 85 NR tags allocated in 2016 and it shows only 35 tags allocated in 2017 after being "adjusted for Hunt 1235 Guided Tags." What exactly does this mean? Does it mean that 50 of the 85 NR tags are allocated to guides? Or were the number of tags reduced? Is that a change from prior years? Any help would be appreciated.

Im pretty sure it is 35 from reduced tags. Resident tags were also dropped substantially in area 6. 1150 to 750 for that early hunt. But all area 6 deer hunts saw quite a decrease in tag allotment. That 2016 quota of 85 was for the normal draw tag allotment 2016. Then there were 45 guided draw tags on top of that. So this year there are 48 guided draw hunters and the proposed 35 normal draw it looks like. Really sucks the deer herd had it so rough this last year. A couple fires last summer really hurt their winter range, and winter wasnt an easy one either.

Looks like they upped the junior tags in 26! Good for us to have a chance. Figured 2:1 odds close to home with a BP should get us a tag, hopefully.

Cow tags down in 22 though ;/ We didnt draw last year but we are partied up 5 w/ 5 BP so I think we have a good shot at drawing.

Also increased 24 by 10 tags! Awesome! Have 4 BP and put in for first choice.
