NV Units181, 182, 183

LAST EDITED ON Jun-13-17 AT 10:48AM (MST)[p]Hunt 1331 (any weapon) in 181, 182, 183. Using Marlin 30-06 fixed x6 scope. I have heard that New Pass Range is a good place to hunt antlered mule deer there. Any other hot spots? I am a disabled vet and have a hard time breathing. With that in mind, any tips, tricks, or easy to reach places that I can go and be successful in this hunt? I will be on foot....no atv/utv/4x4truck. I have only hunted pig in Hawaii and white-tail in Kentucky. This might be my last chance to hunt so I am hoping to get as much info as possible. Thanks.

I live in Reno. Not sure when I am going to go scout nearby there.

Those units can be tough, especially if you are somewhat limited on what you can do and where you can get to. If you can get permission with the right person in Lahontan Valley there are good bucks to be had in the cultivated areas but getting that permission can be the hard part. The mountains hold deer but it's far from easy. I will do some asking around and if I come up with a recommendation I will let you know. PM me an email address.

I shot a small 3 point buck in this unit last year. Lot of people hunting new pass when I was there. I stuck to the Clans and Desatoyas. Hunted 8 days and shot the first buck I saw.

You can stay at Cold Springs Station for scouting and during the season; they have little cabins with shared bathrooms for a reasonable price.

It's big, rough, steep country but also pretty scenic. PM me for details. I got pointers from some members on here so willing to return the favor.
