For these units would the first half or last part of the season be better? Less people, more moisture, road conditions just some general info. Thanks.

This might depend upon your hunting style. You may find a lot of pronghorn higher in the mountains during the early season, which allows you to escape the crowds by hiking in if that's your style. If, on the other hand, you intend to hunt close to the roadways, then perhaps a late season hunt would be better.

I can answer your questions since I live in this area and spend a lot of time out and about. If you want more info please shoot me a PM

Backpack hunting I enjoy, goats may be better quality and little less sensitive to pressure. This hunt will be a good test for my knee rehab. For my up coming elk hunt. Thanks Bullskin.

Both my NV tags have resulted in book goats. Both taken on opening day. This is not wyoming, so with limited #s i would hit it early

With the fires burning in both units, does anyone have an idea yet, how the antelope are going to be affected? How much good antelope habitat has been destroyed?

As of this morning the acreage of the long valley fire 136 square miles burned covering CA 6b, CA M-3 and NV O21 AND 022 With a signifigant amount of Antelope habitat destroyed, it's only 35% containted and still moving east.

We had some horrible fires that burned a lot of good habitat for both antelope and deer. There will likely be more fires to come with these hot temperatures and windy afternoons.

I looked at the 6B portion of the burn, didn't look bad. Islands of cover that didn't burn. Looked like 40%-50% didn't burn.

Country I looked at may have burned at night with higher humidity and lower temps. Or may have been because of the moisture content of the fuel after a good winter.

Last night there was Major flash flooding in the dry valley area, with even some of the paved roads getting washed out, and more showers expected today. Just a heads up lots of water out there now.

If you guys get to the point where you would like some company just give me a call. I know the places to look and I know what a big buck lope looks like.

10-4 buckhorn, end of next week I'll know exactly where I'm at with my knee. Thanks. Turn it in and wait until its 100%or make the best of it.

Elkwon, What did you do to your knee?

Buckhorn, sent you a PM.

Dan,

I'll talk to buddy of mine this weekend. Him and his daughter had muzzy deer tags in your unit a couple years ago. I'll see if he saw any good goats ?.

My brother found a goat that was pushing 80 inches in that unit, and that was a month ago. Imagine what he is now that he's almost fully grown.

I had the archery tag 2 years ago, goats everywhere. Unless you're being super picky you shouldn't have a problem finding a good goat. I don't think or would matter early or late unless you have one scouted out.

I won't be shooting anything unless I think it's pretty special. I shot an 82 1/2" buck last year in AZ. Looking to better that buck or I'll probably eat my tag.
