Silverstate buck problem, Facebook post

Bullridge were the guys that found the buck first and called the silver state girl to come kill it other than calling the other gov tag guy because they would rather have seen a young girl kill it then some rich guy. both guide services where there opening day to kill the buck, after Dallas had called Pine Peak informing them that the Silver State tag holder would be there to hunt and Pine Peak still opted to hunt this buck. Bull ridge tried to negotiate with pine peak to take opposite sides of the mountain, Pine peak would not negotiate and said they were going to hunt both sides of the mountain. Bull ridge took the back side of the mountain giving Pine peak first oppurtunity at the buck even though Bull ridge guides had found the buck first. Once the buck came around the other side of the mountain, Both guide services talked it out and the Silver state girl and Bull ridge decided it would be best to leave and be able to enjoy her hunt instead of having to deal with 10 other subguides that were making her feel very unwelcome. Just want everyone to be on the same page and realize this was a once in a lifetime oppurtunity for this girl that drew the Silver State tag and the rich guy with the gov tag could do this year in and year out.
My brother in law is Dallas Lewis and subguides for Bull Ridge and had watched this buck since June compared to Pine peak who had only known about this buck 6 days prior to the hunt.

>Public ground....fair game
Who said it wasn't ? It all boils down to my money's more important then yours not that it's public land and fair game.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-15-17 AT 04:28PM (MST)[p]What's disturbing is that all of these pro guides could not find another buck of the same class.

Let's be honest, there is more than 1 whopper walking around Nevada.

That said, this is a difficult one. While I see the point of letting the kid kill it (I am all for kids hunting and think more should get tags), I also believe that if you are both paying for a guide service and the buck is public, anything goes.

Now, if this girl was hunting with family on a DIY hunt without a phone call, I would be up there running the guides off myself if they tried to push her off.

I personally believe that killing an animal that was located for me ruins the entire point of hunting and I would not do it. I do not care if its the biggest buck in the state, I could not just pick up and go shoot a buck like that. Too much pride I guess.

How funny guides whining about what is fair. Bull Ridge is notorious for blocking roads with there vehicles to prevent other hunters from having access.
What Nevada needs to do is tax the piss out of guides who are guiding on public land, what gives them right to make a profit on public land that belongs to all of us. IMO.

Not Cool to ever hear stories like this but its the nature of the beast. It's been happening for years. It will continue to happen for years moving forward. I wish the silverstate tag the best of luck I hope she gets a monster for being cool about it and wanting to enjoy the hunt.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-16-17 AT 01:50AM (MST)[p]The other question is. How much was bull ridge dinging the dad for the buck?

The world would be a better place if this whole "industry" ceased to exist.

I thought she shot a big buck already? Different buck? Different young girl with a SS tag?

If Hunting and Angling Ended
There is no alternative funding system
in place to replace the potential lost
funds for conservation. If hunting and
angling end, funding for wildlife
conservation, including enforcement of
all wildlife laws, will be jeopardized.
Hunters, anglers and shooters actively
support wildlife conservation through
tangible actions such as buying licenses
and paying taxes on hunting, fishing and
shooting equipment. Why are hunters and
anglers so willing to support
conservation through their pocketbooks?
Because people place added value on ?
and are willing to pay for ? what they
can use.

I personally feel the day guiding became legal on public lands was a huge mistake. If done in a responsible manner it may be acceptable, but when money is involved greed, cheating, irresponsible behavior is the outcome. We have a local subguide in Elko who makes the rounds every Thursday, tears down signs, dismantles locked gates on private ground and the clients never know the difference. He found somewhat of a secret area with great habitat a few years ago and has taken 22 mature bucks in the last 3 years out of a couple square mile area. Needless to say this area now has very few mature bucks and he and his clients will have to move on. This area used to be my favorite and only hunting spot until this jackass discovered it and bombarded it in the name of money. What's wrong with having a real job,and subguiding on the side in a responsible manner.

I'm not much of a s!#t stirrer but I spend a lot of time in the mountains. When you meet the guide coming down a mountain trail and you then go to the locked posted gate at the end of the trail and the sign is missing and the lock is gone it doesn't take a brain surgeon to put it all together. One guide turned it into a game, as the no trespassing signs were replaced he took them down weekly and actually built a little monument out of the crumpled up signs for all to see. Purpose, I don't know!! I know there are responsible guides and outfitters, but I know a few who positively don't meet the criteria in order to make a buck.

I also call BS, if he on a regular basis does that he would be an easy catch for the landowner, warden or sheriff. not an easy claim to back up. I call BS..

who are you decide how someone makes there money?
