Best muzzle loader zones?

Hey there everybody. Started back on the forum this year after my email got hacked and having to start my profile over again. I have hunted throughout Nevada but decided to try something new and buy a muzzle loader this year. Even though the draw is still a few months out I figured I would start a thread and put feelers out to see what some opinions might be on the best zones to hunt with a muzzle loader. I am planning on putting in for deer, bull elk, and possibly cow elk for muzzle loader. Not looking for sweet spots or secrets, just opinions.

look on the nevada dwr website find hunter resource's and see which units have the most applicants for muzzleloader. That will tell you what units are probably the best muzz units.

Pretty much the same as any weapon the best unit will be the unit you know best.

Depends on what you are looking for. I like filling my freezer every year with a cow elk, so for me, getting a tag is high priority. With that in mind, 072 would be a good option. You can draw the tag almost every year, but it is pretty rugged terrain and can be quite the pack out. If you are willing to work for it, (or pay to have it packed out) there are certainly enough elk in there to fill your tag every year, too.

Thanks geo hunter. I am the same, I like to fill the freezer with a cow elk and hope for another tag to chase horns. I have been in 072 a little bit, and have been turned off by all the people. Perhaps the muzzle loader season is different. A couple years ago I was in there for the rifle season and it was a zoo even 4 or 5 miles into the wilderness. Same thing with the other side in 61/71, I love the country and know it well but the amount of people just ruins it. I was honking about putting in for muzzle loader for cow elk in both of those zones. I don't mind the hiking and pack outs.
