I have never fished the Soldier Creek area, but all the water in the Rubys seems to be filled with 8" brookies. Apparently Soldier Lake has golden trout as well, so that's a fun little bonus for the area.
I helped a friend get a buck in the area a couple years ago - nothing special, but as I'm fairly new to hunting, and it was his first buck ever, we were pretty happy that our combined lack of experience was able to turn one up.
