Unit 72 muzzleloader elk

Pretty stoked! Drew a muzzleloader elk tag. Sept 01 - 15; I'll probably go with an outfitter as I'm 61 yo with a herniated L3 -L4. Somehow I'll make it work. Anyone out there have any experience hunting this area?

I have the same tag. I'm pretty pumped about it! I harvested a cow in the wilderness only hunt last year. Lots of elk, but they make you work for it. Fairly steep terrain, but plenty of watering holes that you can find them near. I hear that the quality of bulls is down in the last few years, but shouldn't be a problem finding a bull, more just finding the one that you want.

I believe there are two outfitters permitted to hunt in the Jarbidge. Jarbidge Wilderness and Cottonwood Ranch Outfitters. I've heard great things about both, and you won.t go wrong with either one. My friends father hunted that area with a Muzzleloader and killed a great bull. Good luck!

A few days ago, I sent a deposit check to Cottonwood Outfitters. He says he only take about 4-5 people and should be filling up by sometime this week.

stack75, congrats on the tag and booking that hunt. My friends dad booked and archery hunt with them, and then bought a landowner tag, and hunted with Cottonwood again. He loved every minute of it, and shot great bulls. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have hunted Mule Deer and pronghorn with Cottonwood in the past. They are excellent.
