Adult onset hunter, first tag ever!

Hey folks! After 33 years, I decided to pick up hunting last fall. This year I drew an early season archery mule deer in unit 141-145. I got to spend one day towards the north end of the diamond range last weekend and couldn't glass up any deer. I found lots of scat in the area but no actual deer. I know its only one day but, as its a five hour drive from home base, I will have to do my scouting in short bursts over the next two months. If anyone might have some tips on the unit, or scouting in general, they would be greatly appreciated! I can't wait for August!!

I don't have any tips for the unit, but can offer some advice regarding general mule deer in NV.

In the summer, early fall, Find the highest elevation water sources in your unit, likely, there will be deer using it and spending their day at the upper slopes of the range.

Also, if there is any agriculture in your unit there will likely be a small resident herd that feeds in the fields. Often, the deer spend their day on public land in the sage or pi?on pines around the fields.
