Been waiting 18 yrs for elk and I think I'm ready to go for a big one next year. My question to you guys is where? Never hunted them. Complete DIY Hunter. Will have two other guys with me and horses for packout. Been looking around the Grafton and White Rock peaks. I have seen a bunch over the last year but not what I was hoping for. Will go home empty, but hate to waste 18 pts.
231, 221, or 111 with 18 pts?

I'm at 17 points and have been applying for all the units you mentioned.
You realize your odds of drawing a rifle, muzzy or archery tag as a NR in one of those units is than super low. For 111-115 it's less than 1%.
For you and me both it could be another 5, 10, 15, 20 or "X" more years to draw. Now if you're a resident then your odds go up quite a bit. In fact if we were residents we'd be likely to draw over the next few of years with our points.

Those 3 units produce monsters every year, Any of those choices is worth the 18 points in my opinion. I have hunted 221 and I have scouted 231, saw big bulls in both areas

Don't burn your points on 72 or 61 stay towards ely ya a couple big boys come out from those units but few and far between. 111 would be my choice 131 has some nice bulls but low numbers. 111 is some big steep country good luck.
