Thought I'd share some of the Nevada Moose images I've downloaded.
Various places: Spring Creek, North of Carlin, Jarbidge, Pole Creek, others not specified. I'm sure different animals all! They're here to stay (I hope!)

AND... a warning to those who may try to hunt/POACH them illegally!

I never knew Nevada had moose. Call me na?ve. Maybe when my grandkids grandkids hunt, there may be a season on them. I'd like to kill one of them moose that drinks beer. :)

LAST EDITED ON Oct-10-18 AT 11:51PM (MST)[p]I've been following sightings, news reports, photos collected off the internet for at least ten years. Most information is from northern Elko County. I remember an article in the Elko Free Press at least 10 years ago about a USF&WS worker who was in Elko doing some research, and learned of a particular bull moose that had been reported. He was able to locate said bull, and was warned about their propensity to be belligerent at times, but he disregarded warnings, and approached too close. The moose charged and attacked him, and he was severely injured, and required hospitalization. I served as a Park Ranger in Northern Elko County from 1986 to 1999, and during that time, there were sightings in Jarbidge, Bruneau River Country, and Independence Mts. I shared my HQ with a NDOW warden, and one day he brought in a decent skull of a young bull he had found on the Petan Ranch (west of Mtn. City and the Bull Run Mts.)! I never did see any myself, but at times heard unconfirmed reports of encounters by hunters during deer and elk seasons. This year, I read an article (after sightings and video surfaced of a young bull in Spring Creek right at the Spring Creek Marina!)that I think stated NDOW biologists estimate there may be as many as 50 animals now!

Here's one I saw in 071. Was just standing in a stream munching on some willows. She didn't seem to care at all when we stopped the truck 30 yards away to stare.

NVPete, that seems like 10 years ago, but would you believe it was in 97? I remember I was scouting for deer in 068 opening day of muzz season when I saw him.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-16-18 AT 09:34AM (MST)[p]Yeah. My mind is fuzzy. I LEFT my station at Wild Horse in 1999, so the stories, sightings, etc. were around that time frame. So moose have been around for 20 PLUS years. It just seems that they are being seen and documented more nowadays with more people out and about!

I have a video of one big bull and one little guy in 15 on elk mountain it's on YouTube nevada moose fast forward to 2:00 mark

That is pretty cool! Don't know that I have ever seen a "forky" moose before. I shed hunt a lot in northern Elko County, and would not know what to think if I found something like that.
